All about Scrotoplasty

Sometimes people need or want to have scrotoplasty for different reasons. Scrotoplasty is a type of scrotum surgery that removes an existing scrotum or creates a new one. There are many reasons to have scrotoplasty.

 What is Scrotoplasty?

Babies are sometimes born with birth defects that affect the scrotum.  Sometimes people need or want to have scrotoplasty for other reasons.  Scrotoplasty is a type of scrotum surgery that removes an existing scrotum or creates a new scrotum.

Scrotoplasty in genital cancers

 If you have testicular cancer, your doctor may want to perform surgery to remove any lumps.  This can cause the skin to become damaged, and your doctor may perform scrotoplasty to repair it.

 Scrotoplasty in loose skin

  • Skin graft failure
  • Damage to the urinary tract

  • Bruising

Depending on the reason for the scrotoplasty surgery, you may need to take more steps.  If you need a skin graft and there is a problem with it, you may need more surgery to correct it.

 Keeping the surgical site clean and avoiding activity for a few weeks can help you avoid complications after scrotal surgery.  Your doctor may use a tight underwear to support you.
